2011 - Sometime in 2011 James Humphreys is hoping to Paraglide over the Black Mountains in Wales. James is hoping to go solo, which would be a brilliant acheivement for him as James has LMBBS and is visually impaired, and always likes a challenge.
April 2011 - On the week leading upto the conference - 15th April 2011, Allan is doing the West Highland Walk. 96 Miles from Fort William to Milngavie.
See Allan's comments below:
"When I first decided to walk the West Highland Way in aid of the society, I didn't quite realise that Scotland's most famous walk was 96 miles!! I also didn''t realise that most people decide to walk from Milngavie just outside Glasgow to Fort William. As I live close to Milngavie I decided it would be a good idea to walk home then train down to the LMBBS conference. A good idea until I followed a Forestry Commission diversion that wasn't signposted very well and I got lost. I managed to walk over a hundred miles in 5 days. I wasn't a walker before I started the West Highland Way. It was all for a very good cause, and I will certainly do other endurance walks, although I think I will do a map reading course, adn learn how to use a compass first!" Well done Allan.

See Victor's comments about his marathon, and thank you for your efforts:
It’s been a pleasure to run the TUI Marathon in Palma de Mallorca last 16th of October on behalf the Society. We had a hot an sunny day, reaching 24C at the end of the race, but the atmosphere was amazing for the 9000 runners for the 3 categories: 10K, Half-Marathon and Marathon. Most of the course was following the sea line of the city and the second 10K of the
race was in the historical centre of Palma. We ran in old narrow streets, in front of the La Seu (cathedral). The buildings were giving us some protection from the sun and we had a lot of people cheering. Most of the runners were running the Half-Marathon, so when we left the city and they head to their finish line, the ones running the whole distance found ourselves a little bit isolated. The last Half-marathon was following the coast and the touristic beaches. Tourists were sun bathing and taking showers, but for us the sun started to be an unpleasant companion. I ran a good part of this section with a couple of nice, friendly and experienced
germans runners that helped me to keep the pace. When I was heading to the last 10K I had some cramps on both calves (the heat, not enough training,...who knows), so I had to walk/run and stretch for a bit. But I don’t think I lost more than 20 minutes from my final time, 4hours 57 minutes and 07 seconds. You can see me crossing the finish line at 2 pm (hot, hot, hot…), it’s a great feeling !!!
I think I raised around 500 pounds and now I have to start thinking, what next!?
